4-H Newsletter - Fall 2008 (coming soon)

Note from Hilary:  I will be heading to Ft. Worth to visit with my Grandmother on Friday, August 15.  She has been placed in a rehab facility for the time to increase her strength so that we can start radiation again.  Thank you for all of your prayers.  We are very blessed to have gotten the extra time with her and are praying for many more years as well.

Community Service Opportunities

Flood Buckets: August 2008, see your email from our Club President regarding how you can contribute.

Dates to Know

Sept. 11 is the Date for the Annual Animal College (we are working on the flyer).  We will have speakers on Beef, Goat, Lambs, Chicken, Swine, Dairy, and Horses, plus info from Acco.  Several of our leaders and Local FFA chapters are helping out with speakers.  6-9 p.m. at the Sr. Citizens Building.

Sept. 11 - if you have kiddos that will not be attending the Animal College, we have an opportunity to help out and earn our County Program more donations by helping with the Heritage Land Bank Stockholder Dinner (6-8 p.m.) at the Texas Fresh Water Fisheries.  Last year we did this and received a sizeable contribution to our County program.  Need 4 to 5 youth that can serve/refill tea and help out as needed.  Will also need at least one 4-H volunteer to help with this event.  Please let me know ASAP if you think you have kiddos that can help with this.

Sept. 14 - Awards Banquet, 2:00 p.m. (light snacks, no lunch) at the Sr. Citizen's Building.  We will have a Hawaiian Theme.

We will have a few clubs that need to get EIN numbers.  This is different from the Club account summary that we have to do in January.  EIN will be part of your 4-H Charter this coming year.  We will be sending out the form to all that need one, plus new clubs.

Chili Cook-Off

Be sure to talk to your clubs about their baskets for the silent Auction.  We will have raffle tickets very soon.

We will also have 150 tickets for youth and families to attend the State Fair of Texas this year.  They are good for any weekday.  RSVP for tickets, they will be in the office late in September.
